Calling all zombies, super heroes, ghosts and ghouls to take their mark at the starting line for the sixth annual Spooky Trot 5k at Brookhaven College Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. Runners and walkers will take their marks to benefit the college's student food pantry.
Runners and walkers, in costume or not as they prefer, donate 10 non-perishable food items as their entry fee.
Anyone also can just donate either food items or $10 to receive a race t-shirt to support the food pantry. Funds are used to purchase needed items like meat products, diapers and toiletries that are not often donated.
Racers should register online and complete the race waiver to participate. Prizes will be awarded to both men and women for the top three running times and for costume contest winners in categories such as scariest, funniest, cutest and most outrageous.
